Art class?

So, I didn't get accepted to dental school this year and I have scheduled a drawing class for the fall, in addition to retaking Biochemistry to improve my application. My question is, if you took an art class, what was the adcom's reaction to it (if any)? Do you think it is foolish to waste valuable time (when I need to impress the adcom for my reapplication) taking an art class? I don't want to look like a slacker (I just really like art). I plan to also improve my application in other ways, with more volunteering and shadowing and classes in the summer. Thanks!
