Art Internships

So I'm planning on pursuing an art minor out of personal interest/passion. I'm involved in art student committees and am on the student committee for a local art museum. I am thinking about applying to an art gallery internship on campus next year. Is this advisable, since it's not "medically-related" and will take a decent amount of time each week? (I get credits). Will this be something I can still put on my med school application in the future? I'm deciding between either doing both free clinic + hospital volunteering or one of those and the art internship..
