This is probably a stupid question but is it better to be published as an ARVO poster or paper?
As a medical student who has never gone to ARVO before what should I look forward to at ARVO?
Thank you everyone for your help! 🙂 🙂 😀

you SHOULD look forward to ARVO. Ft. Lauderdale is a nice during may. Look forward to a lot of people in shorts and hawaiian shirst presenting or carrying posters. i think the first arvo is overwhelming for most, just b/c i don't think people are used to seeing so much research on the eye in one location. what people recommended to me was to sit down with the program and choose one session per day that interests you and don't try to absorb anything else. it's impossible to try to take it all in.

as a medical student, i think it is impressive to present a paper (i never have). but the downside to presenting a paper as a medical student may be lack of knowledege or depth in that particular field. i've seen some medical students (most with PhDs or extensive research backgrounds) give excellent paper presentations. i've also seen a medical student who was crucified in the grand floridian. that was a bit painful to watch. in the end, i think having an abstract accepted to arvo as a medical student is sufficient. have fun and enjoy that blue florida water. 👍
