As a rising MS2, should I take this summer elective course?

I learned of these 3-week courses being offered at a college nearby that are suggested for health-care professionals of any kind that are interested in the special areas covered by the courses (i.e. courses on basic trauma emergencies, pediatric illness emergencies, seizures, cardiology, etc.) They seem pretty interesting and not too time-consuming, so I'm contemplating taking 1 or 2, but I'm wondering if these will in any way add to my residency app? I am one of those advocates of trying to do whatever you enjoy most during your last summer before MS2 whether its good for residency or not, but since these classes aren't free, I'm just wondering if they would have any added resume-boosting benefit in addition to just being interesting and enjoyable for me personally. Thoughts / opinions greatly appreciated!

I wouldn't spend money on classes that teach subjects you're going to encounter on your clinical rotations anyway. Relax and enjoy your summer. I also think they would add nothing to your resume. If you want to pad your resume, do research, do some clinical volunteer work, etc.

Instead, maybe it would be worth it to take ACLS? I imagine if you're already certified you won't have to do it during the semester when you'll be busy with other stuff. I guess it would depend on your school...

Or just chill?

why not just get a book at the med library and read yourself? Unless, of course, you like to throw money away. If so, I will be glad to assign you chapters to read out of the library book for a fee.

def dont take it.. do something you enjoy. you wont have time to do stuff you enjoy for a long while to come
