I just received this info from Mark this morning and he gave me the ok to post it here. Please consider running for the Governing Council or becoming your school's delegate if you are motivated to help shape the future of Anesthesiology. We have had such a great time this year. Dear ASA Medical Student Member,
As you are aware, the ASA graciously adopted the creation of the Medical Student Component (MSC) as a branch of the ASA Resident Component (ASARC) in October of 2004. As a result, the five MSC Governing Council Officers voted for the first time at the ASARC House of Delegates at the 2005 ASA Annual Meeting. The MSC officers are now moving forward on several initiatives to increase medical student involvement and access to resources regarding anesthesiology and the ASA.
The Medical Student Component will hold a House of Delegates this October at the ASA Annual Meeting in Chicago, Il. We are looking for one representative from every medical school from across the nation to attend and serve as a delegate. If you are interested in becoming a delegate, please e-mail me at [email protected] for more information.
Applications for the MSC Governing Council are due by Friday, September 22, 2006. For more information, please visit our website at http://www.asahq.org/msd/govcncl.htm.
This year, we will also be releasing a booklet entitled "A Medical Students Guide to Anesthesiology" which is the brainchild of the MSC's immediate past chair and founder, Emmett Whitaker. Through the help of ASA Information Services, we are now in the process of creating a website (www.asahq.org/msd) and a listserv specifically for medical students.
We now invite you to join the ASA MSC listserv. We will use this tool to keep you up-to-date on new information pertaining to the MSC such as applications for leadership positions and new resources available to you as a ASA Medical Student Member.
