I am debating on whether to attend ASCRS in chicago this year for the first time. Can anyone comment on their experience with this meeting?

Good meeting, everything I think except some courses are free to attend unlike AAO where you have to pay for everything! The talks were good, (you are a medical student matched I think), it is the same old stuff if you are towards the end of residency but if you are just starting it would be good to hear. Obviously is focused on anterior seg and cataracts. They don't have real posters just electronic ones, kinda takes away from it some. I went to San Diego for ASCRS so my reason to go was motivated by this as well

Thanks for the reply. It would be interesting to hear about advancements in cataract surg from the experts, like the femtosecond laser that was a major focus at AAO last year. It seems like the focus is less on research and more on clinical application, business, ASCs and networking. Either way I will be in Chicago for that period so it might be worth it. Since I just matched it will all be fairly new material. Thanks again.
