ASDOH interview

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
What are good questions to consider preparing for? Nov 1. Thanks in advance.

describe the roll of a dentist as applicable to the community, patients, and profession. use any personal experiences to help explain your answer (something along those lines)

Why ASDOH? What makes our school unique out of the 60 some odd schools you have to choose from?

What would you do if you had a patient come in who needed expensive treatment and couldn't afford to pay for it?

How do you think terrorists view the world?

what's your definition of leadership?

they also asked questions specific to your file (they asked me about some stuff from my personal statement)

did you have any other volunteer hours before you were interested in dentistry?

name an ethical dilemma you faced

most of those they asked me and some they asked other candidates there that day

I got asked the first 3 and also

What will you be doing in 10 years.
What is one piece of advice you would give your little. (I am a big brother)
Why AT Still
Have you ever lived outside of your house? Weird question
Why do you think some people volunteer just for applications...

I talked a lot about the big questions so I did not get asked as many. Also everyone else got asked how many schools they applied to but I did not.

did you guys feel the interview was pretty stressful?

Just tell them you want to be the Green Peace ship dentist and have a grandmaster plan of opening up nationwide pro bono dental practices. You'll get an acceptance on the spot.

What is the format of the interview? I'm aware of them making interviewees take some sort of manuel dexterity test. As for the actual interviews themselves, whats the format?? (panel, one-on-one)...

I've had a couple interviews so far and they have been one-on-one but i know that ASDOH likes to do things differently so if anyone can give a brief rundown of how the interview day went, that'd be much appreciated! 😀

Deans intro (epically bearded dude), then purdue pegboard test, then you give a group presentation on the mission statement, then panel interview (i felt it was slightly above average stressful). Great school, boring location, wonderful facilities. Apologies for the grammar, I'm on my phone.

Is the purdue pegboard test part of the interview or just for research? No one else has answered me yet on this...

Research. BUT, how you act during it might be taken into account just a little, not how well you do on the test. So don't freak out about it. The people in the room who watch you and record your results are the people who eventually interview you.
