Wow, they rejected you with that DAT. Maybe there is something about their secondary. Something particular that they are looking for.
My App has not made it there yet, but now I am thinking maybe I should not have applied.

I am still waiting for a response. My app was completed and sent for review on sept 11. I think we just need to realize that they get about 3000 applicants or so and they cant give everyone with good stats or even community service an interview let alone acceptance. I have 350+ hours assisting, 110+ shadowing, 1,050+ volunteering/leadership but I realize even though thats what they focus on they may have other ways of eleminating applicants. Just hoping for the BEST

mmmm.... I am a big fan, It is going to be tough to convince me. He Ko'd Ricky Hatton 8 rounds faster and TKO'd Oscar delahoya but only a split decision with floyd...😀😉 No offense taken! I am sure this thread will come back in a short time when the bout is set up

For those of you who were rejected at ASDOH because you don't fit their profile consider this:
I refuse to hire an associate who is an ASDOH graduate. Similarly I will not sell or transition my practice to one of their graduates when the time arrives. I realize I'm only one dentist, but I also know many other colleagues with similar sentiments.
For those of you lamenting your rejection -- don't worry about it. My opinion is you'll be better off going elsewhere.

I guess someone doesn't take rejection too lightly.
Sounds like those kids in undergrad who boycott a certain frat because they weren't let in.

The fight will never be set up. Mayweather is all about the money, words taken straight from the horse's mouth. He will take the bout that pays the most with the least amount of risk. It's what defines his career. He's been running away from the Pacquiao bout because Pacquiao won't budge from a 50/50 split. Mayweather is looking for a 60/40 split... are you kidding me lol? At this point, Pacquiao is as much of a draw as Mayweather is for that fight. I can call out Pacquiao and demand a 90-10 split. He won't fight me, does that mean he's scared? No it means I'm scared so I set up a very unfair split. If he agrees, I get a payday, if he denies, I call him a coward. VINTAGE Mayweather!
Pacquiao has moved up in weight to fight the best of the best as of late... while Mayweather comes back and fights a guy 15-20 pounds lighter than him. VINTAGE Mayweather!

Is their a particular reason why you dislike ASDOH so much?
I've only been at ASDOH for 2 months, but I love it. It's a lot of hard work but at the end of the day I feel very happy and fortunate to be in dental school. To those of you who were rejected don't take it personally. They received over 3,200 applications this year for 68 positions, so they're tough odds. If you don't get in this year keep trying, I was a multiple reapplicant.

If I don't get in any schools this cycle...I most likely won't apply to asdoh again next year....
I have no idea how I can improve on my application for next year.....taking more classes.....boosting a couple of points in gpa and dat scores, doing more community services...writing a better ps won't even mean anything because my resume is already golden.....i mean i don't have a 4.0 or anything but it's good enough ..

I would like to know your reasoning behind this as well - what is it about their graduates, or more so their school that makes you dislike them so much?

Everyone's 2 cents are always welcome and never necessarily wrong or right. Many people have mentioned that ASDOH rejects 'overqualified' applicants b/c they probably wouldn't go there. The reason i disagree with this is because ASDOH may have low incoming class numbers, but it is a very well respected institution. I'm sure they would have extremely high averages if every student that fit their mold had 22AA and 3.7GPA. This is not the case though. The well rounded students that they prefer have a wide range of grades. They are looking for something very specific as identified by their secondary app. and intense interview process. Grades are obviously important in the indication of a students ability to handle the academic rigor of dental school, but ASDOH also puts significant emphasis on leadership, service, and community involvement. If a student with a 23AA and 3.8 GPA fit their mold, they will interview them. If a student with a 23 AA and 3.8 GPA does not fit the mold they will not interview him/ her. It's not that ASDOH doesn't want to waste their time on students who may go elsewhere. They don't want to waste their time on non-valued students.

I do not know why people keep saying this school did not give me an invite because my stats are high and I go and pick another school. This is wrong. Schools don't just look for very high stats, its not as glamorous to them as to us predents. I have 24 TS and 22AA and I got an interview there same as half of the students in my group the day of interview.So as you can see they don't just look for this stat or that stat. They look for other things too. Like if you are going to apply to Harvard and do not have any Research background and you have high stats they probably won't send you an invite.
Schools look for people they think fit their program.

So I got a rejection letter last week but today my AADSAS supplementary materials section for ASDOH updated to:
New (updated) DAT Scores Not Received 2 x 2 Photograph Not Received State or University Questionnaire Not Received Application Survey Not Received TOEFL Score Not Received MELAB Score Not Received WICHE Certification Not Received
Although my status says Application Complete/Application Denied "test".
Does anyone else have this??? Seems really weird to me.

I got the letter a while ago and got this update today too. It's my first AADSAS update in over 2 months though so it's pretty exciting for me.

If you check you School Decision section I bet it will say under ASDOH Status- application denied
Yes, it does. I wrote that in my original post and already knew because I got the letter last week. It says the word "test" after "application denied" so I was just curious about that specific word.
I received my rejection MONTHS ago from them, and my aadsas was updated today and says the same thing...haha...at first I panicked because I thought I got rejected by another school, but as it turns out, its just good ole' ASDOH!

Sorry I havent replied in so long, but yeah I got rejected after my supplemental. Today, AADSAS updated my status for ASDOH changed and it said that I got rejected because of my DAT scores. Even though, i don't think my scores are THAT bad to warrant a rejection.
P.S. my DAT breakdown is on my predents profile.

Are you talking about what it says under status defined? Like Received/ Application Denied test. Because that's not saying they denied you b/c of your DAT score. Admissions said weren't sure what that "test" was.
Futuredent is right. Admissions said the word "test" does not imply it's because of your DAT scores and if you DAT scores were not competitive they wouldn't have had you fill out the supplementary app.
That's ok...but, just so you know, the supplemental materials section that was updated to the list of things not received was also a mistake on the updating person's behalf. It should not be there according to ASDOH.

I just checked my AADSAS page, and for ASDOH it has an update (it hasn't shown anything before) that says "invited for an interview test." I already had my interview with them a month ago... I think for some reason it is putting the word 'test' after every update regardless of what the update is, so I don't think any of us should look too far into it.

Hmmph it makes me wonder why I got an interview there. My stats are good but I really do not have that much community service.... But the school looked really nice.
ASDOH definitely has an unique philosophy compared to other dental schools. High GPA and test scores are great to demonstrate ability to handle their curriculum, community service is a great way to give back to the community. BUT...just being curious, did any of you want to go into public health and practice in an underserved area through the likes of CHC, IHS, Veteran's hospitals etc. and mentioned it in your applications?

Yes, both in the interview and on my application I mentioned that I would like to ideally work in a community health center after dental school. In the interview I touched on that most of my shadowing hours were done at a CHC, so I knew what the practice was like, and I even had a letter of recommendation from that CHC director, which made me a "hometown applicant" (check their website).
This was on top of a ton of community service, a visit to the school, and time in an AT Still Masters of Biomedical Sciences program.
So, I would like to hazard that I am among the most confused about what they want.

That is really confusing. I am just curious...did you submit your letter of rec through AADSAS and had a separate letter mailed to Dr. Cloud for their "hometown applicant" program? Also, your profile status still says pre-medical.

I just sent in my letter to AADSAS and then let the admissions committe know that it was a hometown letter (I knew a admissions counselor personally to let it know). The dentist did also mention that he was the director of the CHC.
I'm sort of at a lost of what to do, I've met with just about everyone I think I can to try to get my name in the mix.

I had the chance to visit an open house there, and from what I gather, you do not get into this program based on merit. Sure, they favor volunteer hours, but as far as I know their adcom selects "well-rounded students". Obviously I'm stating the obvious.

I never did find the reason for my denial. I did find out that I was put on a "second tier" waiting list, that had never been used before. I think of it more as a courtesy than a real chance at acceptance.

I do not believe that they award admission based on community service and dedication to the underserved. I have my reasons for believing this, that I don't particularly wish to divulge.
