For evaluations they want the third letter from a supervisor of a volunteer broad based community service organization. If I volunteered in a dental department of a non-profit FQHC, and I received a LOR from a dentist who is also the dental director would that meet the requirement? Also if that letter is already uploaded to AADSAS would I still need to send it to them directly?

In their Essay portion, part II asks for an explanation of any periods of prolonged non-academic activity. Would I just leave that blank if I had no such periods?

Part III, asks the why ASDOH question. If there are any ASDOH dental students here that could talk about why they love their school, that would really help out.

Thanks!

Curious as to why you applied if you didn't already know this answer. It's best to do your own hw. I would imagine if someone told you why they loved it, then you would take their words. The ASDOH secondary application specifically says that everything must be an original product of your own work. Why did you apply there? Think....

Please don't assume I'm here to copy people's words. I have my own personal reasons for applying to ASDOH which I intend to include.
Specifically, I am looking for current ASDOH dental students to share what they like about going there. There is a possibility they have some insight that I've never considered. Or is there something only a student would know that would be helpful to me as a prospective student. They might have ideas that aren't included on ASDOH's website. A similar question was posed regarding the secondary for Western. There was helpful information shared that wasn't common knowledge.

Getting "insider" information showed that you cared to ask.

We aren't trading stocks here guys.

I was agreeing with you and support you asking for input from current students. For my secondaries, while I have been reading through websites, I have also been checking old C/O pages and previous threads. Keep doing what you need to do to make yourself the strongest applicant possible.

Have you read this yet? It gives tons of information about the school. More so than the ADEA handbook.

One thing to keep in mind, I've read from other threads on here that ASDOH doesn't encourage students working together or studying together, they don't like having their students use their classmates as a crutch. But, maybe that's a myth.

ASDOH D3 here - Unless you really do better studying on your own... we all have our study groups here at ASDOH. I wouldn't have survived D1 year if I had to do it alone. I'm not saying that myth doesn't exist, but I personally haven't heard it.

I just wrote this pre-dent article re: re-applicants for ASDA, y'all take a look if you feel like it. 🙂 http://goo.gl/Zbq0VY

#1 is a legitimate question - call or email the school. Use it as an opportunity to interact with folks indirectly involved in the admissions process.

#2 - personal opinion, but I'd at least put something to the effect of "There have been no prolonged periods of non-academic activity."

#3 - In general, the folks that gravitate to ASDOH are givers - doers - have big hearts - care about each other and the community they're from - well-rounded - real. Every class/school has their issues, but what family doesn't? We're generally a happy bunch. There are research opportunities (even more coming), but we're a private school focused on clinical experience, and I'd put most ASDOH grads up against anyone when it comes to clinical skill.

What else do you want to know?

Hey I am in a similar predicament with the letters of recommendation, the dentist I received a letter from is a also the founder of a non profit community service organization. I called and they said that they need 3 letters regardless so now I have to find either another dentist or someone else form the organization to fulfill the requirement.
