Hello,
I am currently a pre-podiatry student at USF in Tampa... I am extremely interested in becoming a Podiatrist, but lately I have been hearing horror stories of Podiatry students graduating and not being able to find jobs.. Is this going to be a problem? Or is it just a myth? I appreciate any advice you'd be able to give me. Thank you so much 🙂

Brendan,

This is a myth. There is a shortage of doctors (including pods) currently and with the baby boomers looking to retire, it will once get worse. Current graduates from 36 month residencies are having multiple job offers with very good salaries. I think that whoever told you this has been spending too much time at Ybor City.

One nice thing about being a Podiatrist is that you do not have to "find a job." Even though it's not the most popular route right out of Residency, you can be your own employer and start your own practice if you can't find someone to hire you.
