I have agreed to lecture FM PGY2-3 on the topic of, "Psychiatric Emergencies" with a primary care focus. I am about to be a Psych PGY3 with a really good reputation both clinically and for lecturing. I'm not really sure what topics would be appropriate for FM, however, other than what to do with a suicidal patient; my suggestion for this would be to actually ask them some questions first before consulting psych. Otherwise, I'm not sure what else one could encounter in the primary care setting that is emergent. At this point, nothing in psych seems too emergent to me so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, this will serve as an excellent starting point. I had the thought of the delirium section already. We get called so many times about delirium and the recs are usually just to do a thorough medical workup. Hopefully this lecture will stop the craziness I have experienced on the emergency service since FP started to administer the PHQ-9 on EVERY PATIENT seen with an algorithm of a mandatory STAT psych consult because of specific answers to certain questions
