General Asked to Write a LOR Draft - Is this ethical?

I have shadowed a doctor at his private clinic for a couple of summers. I am planning to apply to medical programs this upcoming application cycle and asked him to write a letter of recommendation for me. He told me that he would be happy to, but asked if I could write a draft LOR that he could edit. What should I do? Is it unethical for me to write my own LOR even though it should/will be edited by my recommender?

I just wrote a letter about myself from my boss What I did was read through various available templates and assembled a basic outline from those, then filled in specifics. I sent her the draft to edit. In your case absolutely attach a resume or CV and make sure to be clear about what traits and experiences you’d like to highlight.

No, this is somewhat standard. It would be unethical if it was purely a signature without review, but this person is probably busy and also you would be able to know the letter requirements better than he/she would.

Just do it and make sure the letters really good. You are not being asked to commit sacrilege this is a pretty standard ask
