Hi, SDN --
Not a question confined to only pre-medical business, but this is where I go for such things.
A year ago my philosophy professor wrote me a recommendation. At that point his impression of me was based on one class as a sophomore a year previous. Two years later, I've taken another course with him, sat on a panel with him about philosophy, was nominated by him for an award and generally got to know him better. Clearly, what he wrote two years ago is probably different than what he would write now.
Is there a non-awkward way to ask for a professor to write a revised LOR? It just sounds so awkward to say something like, "Well, you probably have a different impression now, so could you revise the letter?"
