Is it acceptable to email your potential letter writer to ask for a LOR? Also, when you asked, what was the dialogue between you and them? I'm confused as to how to ask?

Yes, if that's the standard communication method you use with them. Personally, I used e-mail to set up a meeting so we could discuss the LOR.

I emailed every one of my letter writers because that was how I normally communicated with them. They all agreed to write one so I don't think there's anything wrong with emailing

I would ask him in person because I think it's more professional. However, I would send a thank you email after he submits your letter of rec.

Don't forget to give your professor an addressed and stamped envelope for them to mail your letter in.

It depends on how they handle the letters. For my school, letters were mailed into the health advising office and then scanned in for email.

Yeah same here, I'm having all my letters sent to my undergrad where they scan and save them.
