Congrats everyone on the match! Now that we know where we're going to be for PGY2-4, does anyone have advice on the best way to ask nearby prelim/TY programs for an interview? I have a program that I applied to but never heard back from, and at least one other program that I haven't applied to yet.

I know that often times the PD from our ophtho program will offer to help, but I did not get a phone call today and so I did not get a chance to ask. Has anyone contacted prelim/TY programs on their own to ask? I'd appreciate any tips, thanks!

Shouldn't be rocket science. Call the program and tell them the situation. Say you'd likely rank them first given that you have already matched in the area. Ask if they would be willing to consider you as an applicant at this stage. Sounds reasonable to me.

Did this successfully this morning. Just be honest and straightforward - tell them you matched and would like to interview for internship in the same place - I imagine it's a plus for them as well because then they get to help train and get to know the residents they will be consulting in future years.
