I had a prof that took well over a month after he said it would be ready. I went to his office and said I was just checking up to see if he was able to write the LOR and that he hadn't forgotten about me. He was more embarassed than I was and apologized and had it written and turned in that day (my school has a LOR service and they told me he turned it in that day). I don't think you need to feel like you're intruding by asking if the prof is done yet or not. They're a professor and if they teach a science class then they probably write LOR's all the time.... especially if it is a pre-req class.

I also had to bug one of my professors to write the letter...except that I waited over 2 months to get her to write it. She was annoyed when I started bugging her. I actually put a post up about it, but seriously...don't worry about pushing them a little bit. You deserve the letter. I'd suggest emailing them first. If you don't get a response a few days after you've emailed, go in person (if you're in the same town) to their office or give them a call.
Most professors have just gotten busy and lost track of time. All you have to do is remind them, and their usually nice about it. Don't worry too much. Everything will work out-just be persistent but give them a little space.

Get yourself poured into a low-cut dress and pay them a visit.
They will not only mail their recommendations the next day but they'll Fedex those mofo's.
Even if the prof's are women, they gotta appreciate the effort.

I find it interesting that weekly you are asking for someone to hold your hand through the application process. Yet, you constantly slam others threads.

send them a thank you note. you should do it anyway and it serves as a reminder to that person that he/she needs to write it. good luck!

If it's not late, I'd send a thank-you note to serve as a reminder. If it's late, I'd contact them directly and let them know that your application is complete except their letters. At the same time, I'd look into getting another letter from a different professor. If someone is not very responsive, it's very likely that the letter won't be much thoughtful. If they forgot (but are willing to help out), they'd respond very quickly (or even apologyze as someone mentioned) when you contact them. Both cases actually happened to me this year. One wrote the letter the same day I contacted, the other one gave me a feeling that I shouldn't depend on this letter. I gave both a good one month! I contacted another professor of mine and got a letter from him. Now my app is complete. Good Luck!
