Asking from LORs from Residents

Can I get LORs from residents during my 3rd year that I can use when submitting my apps for residency interviews or does it have to be attending letters only? Thanks

I would get LORs from attendings. But you can ask your residents to give feedbacks and positive examples to your attendings so that he/she can include it in your letter.

I wouldn't ask residents for letters. I doubt programs would accept it or look highly upon it. I would say attendings only.

Letters of Rec from residents are considered to be as useful as Letters of Rec from non-clinical people.

Attendings only.

I did a LOR for a medical student while I was Chief Resident. I ran the IM service and the student was my right hand for that month. He was exemplary - not sure how I would have gotten everything done without him. He is the only student I have done a letter for - it was received just fine and he got into his choice residency. He didn't spend enough time with the attending to get a decent letter from him. I agree, don't just ask any resident for a letter, it won't carry any weight.
