Asking my Dentist to Shadow tomorrow

Hey guys, tomorrow after I get my routine cleaning, I am planning to ask my dentist if I could shadow him for a week. What do you guys suggest wearing and what's the best way to phrase my request? Any tips would be great!

Personally, if I were your dentist I'd be a little freaked out if you dressed up just to ask me if you could shadow, so I'd say play it cool and go casual. I would just tell him about your interest in dentistry and express how you'd like to learn more if he'd be willing to let you shadow.

Ask the hygienist what she thinks. All the people who shadow in our office set it up through our office manager. I doubt they'll say no since you're a patient.

Agreed. Always look presentable and put together, but don't look like you've arrived at the front doorstep waiting to pick up your date for the high school prom.

if ur dentist is friendly im sure he'll ask u how uve been or w/e and then u can tell him ur applying to dental school , and if hes NICE he'll just offer for u to shadow.....aka u wont have to ask.
thats what my dentist did.

bring a CV and cover letter if you're going to ask them. It's worked for me in the past. I didn't ask when I was getting treatment, but I came by another day and asked.

"Dr. [last name], I've been thinking about going to dental school, would you mind If I do some shadowing with you?"

if he agrees, then ask what would he prefer you to wear on the shadowing days (scrubs are very common)

Well, I just wore my regular clothes and asked him with the help of the receptionist at the front. I got the position!

Congrats. If you like the experience (ie. you want to be in this field), I would try to make a good impression so that he can refer you to other offices.👍
