Asking potential employers about the wage

I'm just wondering if employers tell you what their pay is upfront when they are recruiting for pharmacists. Otherwise, is it appropriate to ask them when we're applying? Any insights would be really appreciated!

No I was not told what the pay would be upfront until I received the official job offer in writing a few days after. I think the recruiters don't always know and will tell you "depends on the market"
