As you can see I haven't received any acceptances yet, but I have been put on a few waitlist. All things considered I have started preparing to reapply next year. Clearly my weaknesses are that my GPA is rather low and I don't have very many extra curriculars. (worked as a waiter all through out college, also worked on a political campaign). I noticed that SUNY Upstate offered to review my application with me, but other schools did not include that offer in their rejection email. Any advice for asking schools how I can strengthen my application to reapply?

Take the meeting with SUNY and discuss the holes in your app. I don't know of any other school that will review your app with you. If the intent is to reapply next year consider different schools. Re-apps aren't very successful. If you are SERIOUS about becoming a PT and re-apps don't go well, then consider a 2 year master's degree in any field of interest. Do well in that program which will demonstrate your ability and drive to complete graduate school. The benefit is that you will likely have a +3.5 GPA in the master's. Many schools will emphasize your last 2 years of study. If you enter PT school with a graduate degree and a strong graduate GPA you might have a leg up on the competition. I'd recommend an MHA or MPH. MHA entry is less competitive (usually). Good luck!

Just curious, is it a good idea to take a year of classes at a local college (not community), boost my GPA and re apply? I have no issue applying to different schools my second time around.

my plans is to retake anatomy and take additional high levels science classes to boost my gpa and reapply. I have also landed an amazing job as a PT aide.

My advice is to just spend a year and retake classes at a community college or wherever and then reapply...even to same schools. I personally found that schools liked my commitment and dedication to reapply. Also, if your ptcas gpa is really below a 3.0 I bet you literally got automatically rejected before a real person even reviewed your application. This was me last year.....I retook about 5 classes which raised me to a 3.1 (from a 2.98 or something) and it made all the difference. I wouldn't worry about extra curriculars. Just keep doing obs hours and maybe like 1-2 other community volunteer things. I do not recommend getting a masters (I have one) I don't think it makes any difference. Better to just have As in all the pre reqs and a gpa a little higher. Don't worry about taking a higher level science class unless it will fulfill and replace one of your lower grades for pre reqs. (Otherwise just repeat your lowest grades).

I'd bet one of the Touros will take you off the wait list. They are more forgiving for GPA. It's not over yet.

I hope you're right but I can't really count on that. Still need to get a game plan together for round two.
