I am looking to continue to develop my private practice, and am currently looking to add assessments to services I already provide. Right now I am currently scouting the marketplace trying to develop some ideas. My questions are

1. Any suggestions about where to find publishers of insturments. I have found Pearsons Assessments online and Sigma Assessment Systems, but have had little success in finding others.

2. I am specifically looking for an ADHD assessment, I am not particularly fond of the Conners assesment, can anyone recommend another instrument.

3. Does anyone have any other specific tests they would recommend having on hand for a child/adolescent focused practice. I have a few assessments in mind such as the PSI, and SASSI.

Thanks in advance

Jeff

For testing ADHD in children, you may want to check out the Test of Everday Attention (TEA-Ch) and the Cognitive Assessment System (CAS).

I don't know if you will be assessing any children with health issues, but if you are, I have experience with a couple of different measures from my senior thesis. My advisor and I used the Pain Coping Questionnaire (PCQ) which is authored by Graham Reid and others as well as the PedsQL which is authored by James Varni and assesses quality of life in children with pediatric issues. The Varni measure can be accessed from http://pedsql.org/about_pedsql.html.

There is a good article out on the PCQ, here's the reference:
Reid, G. J., Gilbert, C. A., & McGrath, P. J. (1998). The pain coping questionnaire: Preliminary validation. Pain, 76, 83-96.

Hope this is helpful!

When I do ADHD assessments, I typically use:

1) TEA-Ch
2) BRIEF (Brief Rating Inventory of Executive Function); teacher & parent forms
3) ADDES (Attention Deficit Dysorders Evaluation Scales); teacher & parent forms
4) Depending on age, I might throw in some additional measures of "executive function": i.e. stroop color-word, trails, tower of london etc.

Some people use the CPT (Continuous Performance Test), but in my experience, it has been near useless. It's almost $800 to buy and I don't think I'd use it if it was given to me.

Thanks everyone I really appreciate the responses. All of them were very helpful. If anyone has anymore suggestions I would appreciate it.

Jeff
