Well, I am a little confused and I am in the process of getting into my first two years of school.

I would like to double major in psycology and biology, (this is just plans of course, I could probably do something that makes me shine or whatever).

Anyways, in the College where I am going they are listed as associates in ARTS 😕 😱 .

This is ofcourse to then transfer to a University and finish my last two years there (of premed).

And, am I right with what I am saying? I mean in order to have a Double Major when I graduate from a University I have to get an Associates in the same area right?, *Example* meaning that if I wanna have a Major in Biology, I gotta do the Associates in Biology and then Bachelors aswell?

I am choosing Associates from this college : http://www.mdc.edu/programs/aa.asp

Which is the second best 2 year college in the nation (as I've heard).

And the Bachelors from FIU: http://academic.fiu.edu/docs/degrees.htm

I would have to take the first two years in the College, get the AA and then the BS, but on the same thing right?.

Im sorry for sounding so confused :scared:  😕 but I need some help 🙁 , thanks!

Go to FIU as soon as possible. Forget the AA, and get the BS or BA. I don't think anyone really cares about AA or AS degrees, seriously. If you want to double major that means you will be getting two BS or BA degrees.

Double AA or AS ?????????????????

At my school, two majors gave you one degree UNLESS the two majors were in separate colleges. For example, if one were to major in Chemistry and Biology, both in the College of Arts and Sciences, one degree would be awarded listing the two majors, but if one were to major in Biology and Journalism, one in the College of A&S and the other in the College of Journalism, two degrees would be awarded. My guess is that it depends on the college/university.

My question is, is it a problem if I do the first two years in Miami Dade College and then the other 2 years in FIU?

I wanna know because if the case is that I should start in FIU then I might have to wait until January.

You mean two pieces of paper? If you double major and both are listed on one degree then you still have 2 areas of degree completion.....

There are many threads dedicated to this already. The consensus is it doesn?t matter. If you want to spend more money then by all means go straight to FIU.

Don't worry about it, an AA doesn't matter to med schools. Get very good grades on the med pre-reqs, transfer to a university as soon as possible, and score well on the MCAT.

If you want an AA (another piece of paper to file, as far as I'm concerned, and I have 2 of them), get which ever will let you transfer faster.

Yes and no... two pieces of paper for two degrees. One piece for double major. Dual degree programs require at least 5 years, or 150 credit hours, to complete since there are very few classes that overlap. The degree for a double major would show the two majors by listing them both but it would read as a BA in Bioligy and Chemistry or whatever. The differences between those two majors as far as class requirements are minimal compared to the differences between two colleges, which is why only one degree is given.

Like I said, this is the way it is at my school.
