Astigmatism and Loupes

I've got Astigmatism and I'm not sure how that'll affect getting loupes. I talked to the Heine rep who came to my school and she said that it might not work for me.

I was wondering how many other dental students out there have Astigmatism and what they're doing about loupes before I decide to spend 1.5k on a pair.

I have Surgitel Oakley flip-ups. I have the astigmatism, although not a major case. The loupes are not lens corrected and I have no problems with them. What I would do is contact each company you might be interested i purchasing from. Explain your situation. Ask about their return policy. I would then purchase from a company that would allow you to return them after a 30 or 60 day period if they don't work for you.

I have astigmatism in my left eye, but I wear contacts that do correct it (my eyesight is pretty bad, around -5.5 in both). My vision changes slightly from year to year, and I figured it's better to change my contact prescription every couple of years than to pay for a new set of loupes. Just have your loupes set for normal (no vision correction) but get yearly eye exams and contacts. The opt guy also told me that for astigmatism, contacts do a better job of correcting it than regular glasses.
