The science course I was going to take in addition to my ochem retake is full, and the professor doesn't give overrides.

The only class left that would help and fit with my schedule is a self-paced astronomy course. I like the material, but wonder if this would look incredibly lame to have taken? I guess if it's all that fits I don't have a choice, other than not taking it.

Why would they think its lame? Tell them it was something you were interested and your other class was full. Does your school have it listed in the physics department or general science? Why do you have to take another class this semester?

Astrology...that would probably be seen as a lame class.

There are usually a few people dropping the class the first week or so of the semester. Have you asked the prof if he could add you when someone drop?

Yeah, but if he's too much of an ass to do an override I'll just skip the course. I doubt anyone will drop anyways; he's known as a super-easy professor.

I'll just stick with ASTR. I can take the exams the days I go for ochem lecture (BIO was on different days and it's almost an hour drive!)

That is one long drive for a single class. Best of luck with your classes and applications.

Thanks. After some thought, I decided to say screw retaking ochem. I'm just going to take another ASTR course; I started reading the text waiting for class and ended up reading the first two chapters! I figure I spent 5 years in college taking mostly stuff I didn't want to take but had to. It's time I took something I want to take.

If med schools look at it dubiously, oh well.

Who cares what they think? If it will boost your GPA it is worth taking.
