At what point will a schools offer you an inerview?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
You mean you haven't gotten one yet?!? Uh oh.

It really depends on how competitive you are. If you have top scores you could hear back in a few weeks, if you are average than most likely they will put your application aside for awhile. It also really depends on the school.

They will wait until they have everything for your file before you will get an interview.

Patience is really tested during this process.

Sometimes schools may send an interview invite after the primary but before the secondary has been turned in (U Mich and Vanderbilt come to mind). However, most schools like to have the secondary and the letters of recommendation on file so that they can review all information presented and then judge. So I wouldn't be worried about anything if your file isn't yet complete at a school.

well, the timing as also very dependent on two things: WHEN your app is complete and WHERE you're applying.

if you applied early in the season (say now), the turnaround from amcas to secondary to interview invitation is usualy much quicker than applying later in the year when all the applications are in and the med schools have to sort through more applications

plus, how fast you get an interview is very much dependent on the school. some schools like umich are known for being very quick with interviews and have already started, whereas some schools might hold onto your app for several months before deciding to interview.
