At what stage can you include things on CAS?

For the research section on CAS, I know you can include a manuscript as long as it has been submitted.

Can you include manuscripts that are underway, and that you expect to be completed in the next few weeks?

I opted to NOT do that, since it seems like fluff cause anyone in any stage of research can have a "Manuscript in Preparation". I will just send the program an update when/if my paper gets accepted.

I feel as though you CAN include it if you are legitimately close to submitting, and will likely have submitted by interviews.

Anyone else care to weigh in?

I think it's fine to include it as long as you make a clear distinction between the "in preparation" and already published articles. I've seen lots of professors' CVs with "Manuscripts in Preparation" sections
