Title pretty much says it all. I was complete at all the schools that I applied to by early September. It's December now but I haven't heard a peep from more than half the schools that I applied to. Is this normal or is anyone else here in the same boat? Idk if this would make any difference but my stats are 3.35 cGPA, 3.15 sGPA, 26 MCAT. Strong LORs, with research and extra curricular activities. I've gotten waitlisted post interview at one school. Waitlisted pre-interview at 2 schools. Rejected from 3 schools.

Well, your sGPA and cGPA and also MCAT are on the low side...while there's still a chance you can hear back, I would say your chances are not going to be good at this point. I would plan on working on improving your application for next cycle. Medical schools at this point in the cycle are probably starting to look for applicants with higher than average stats when the flood of MD rejections are starting to apply late.

If you can't get accepted this cycle, prepare to fix your MCAT and GPA and work on next cycle ASAP.

I am at 3.45 cGPA, 3.35 sGPA, 27 MCAT and have an interview for an MD school. I have not heard anything from any DO schools yet, so I am probably in an even worse position. @Goro should I be worried or is there still time?

Edit: I have not been rejected or waitlisted at any school yet.

I think it's too late for MD, but it's late in the game for DO. I'm surprised that you haven't received more love...your stats would land you an interview at my school.

But it ain't over 'til it's over!

I think I may add some more schools (Edward Via's and Lecom's). I was really hoping A.T. Still-Kirksville would give me some love, but I still haven't heard anything. If you would want to toss me a bone of where to apply to hit your school, it would be much appreciated! 🙂

@Goro Should I try contacting the schools I am complete at and make sure they haven't forgotten about me or sent emails that got lost?

Edit: I also have three years of really good volunteering experience with cancer patients (direct contact) along with shadowing and a fantastic LOR from a DO. I'm sure it doesn't help that I wasn't complete until October.

@juice31 just to let you know though LECOM took ~2 weeks to get my secondary out to me, but nice thing is it's basically instant to complete.

What was your school list? What schools have rejected you? What schools are waitlisted you pre/post interview?

When did you apply by again? Verification date? Haven't heard back meaning no secondaries?

I'm assuming you have requirements for all progs met and you haven't heard means you got secondaries, but not II's.

Either way your S/C GPA is weak, especially if you have retakes? During an open house I was told by several programs they really really this year didn't want to take sgpa's less than 3.25 unless the applicant was stellar in other areas, as over half of the ~5000+ applicants will likely have that this year. So, I'd start making plans to retake core science classes and get that gpa up. 26 MCAT isn't great but I got an acceptance with similar on the new mcat. That said, there's little to do now but wait and start making back up plans for next year. Some schools were taking people in August for last cycle, so the wait list post-interview may still come through as Goro said it ain't over...!

Best of luck!

I just submitted my primary to 8 more schools. All of the Edward Via's, Rocky Vista, PCOM GA, LECOM, LECOM Bradenton, and ACOM. How long does it take for my apps to get sent out since I have already sent my earlier apps out months ago?

All schools vary but I think you need to relax a little. I was complete (including secondaries for all schools that had sent them) in like June/July. One school I received an interview in for November 13th and was complete in July so things take awhile

Yes but what happens when people that were complete after you hear back first; that has to be a bad sign right?

The problem is that you received an interview for November 13th, when class isn't full yet so you can still be accepted to that class. If you don't hear back by end of December and interviewing into Jan or Feb, you're probably interviewing for waitlist spots for many schools.
