ATC to PA?

Is this a good idea: Getting my BS in Athletic Training and then getting into a PA program?

My goal is to do sports rehab but I know ATC's have low salaries.

I know a PA that was an ATC. He knows several others with that background that became PAs. Seems doable.

I had 3 ATC's in my PA school class; one of them left a position with an NFL team to become a PA. They all went into orthopedics, and were our go-to tutors during school for the MSK exam and orthopedic questions.
