we have it in our residents' lounge and i'm planning on buying it. it's HUGE, has good illustrations, covers almost every head and neck procedure (not in too much detail but just enough for an overview), and reasonably priced for this sort of a textbook ($192 with a barnes and noble membership) That being said, it's not in the top 5 books to have for OMS residency, but possibly in the top 10.

What would be the top 5 books to have for OMS residency ?

And after these I would look into craniofacial (posnick), cosmetic, and cancer books. Some may have a different list and I might have forgotten some good books but that's all i could come up with while watching monday night football. I guess I would throw in Morgan and Mikhail's anesthesia textbook in there as well.

Here's another good one for you : When's Halo 3 coming out ?

I have the Lore atlas and I like it. Some of the stuff is really outdated. There's a little about everything, but alot about nothing. It's a good overview of procedures. It's definately a lot of bang for your buck for being such a big book.

I agree with Scalpel's top 5. I have 3 of them and have read pieces of the other 2. Those are definately classic texts you can't go wrong with. Here's a few more that I have bought and like:

http://www.amazon.com/Cancer-Head-N...ef=sr_1_3/002-3748288-7941650?ie=UTF8&s=books

http://www.amazon.com/Complications..._bbs_sr_1/002-3748288-7941650?ie=UTF8&s=books

I've got the Marx Path book along with Neville/Damm. I think the Marx book is easier and more interesting to read, even though the organization is odd at times. But Marx has a way of dumbing things down for people like me.

It says there are some used ones available. My advice would be to stay away from those in this particular case.

Hmmm. You seem to speak from experience, so I will heed your advice.

I once worked for a construction company that rented equipment out to the city dump... The guy that operated the equipment used to come by the shop all the time with these stacks of nudie magazines he'd find at the dump... I am not sure which was worse - The fact that they had been laying in a filthy city dump for who knew how long, or the fact that they were so tattered with pages stuck together from who knew what they had been used for, or how many times they had been used for it before they ended up at the dump...

I like Kwon's Clinician's Manual of OMFS as well... Also Epker's books on Dentofacial Deformity - An easier (ie less likely to put you to sleep) read than Proffit & White...

I'm sure that I have no idea what you're talking about.
