Anyone's thoughts on ATSU-KCOM vs UNECOM? I have been accepted for both and am trying to decide between the two. I initially thought ATSU based on its history and the fact that I come from a small town (rural doesn't bother me). However, after looking at the numbers, I saw how high UNE is on the "ranking list." They are both far from home (UNE is 16 hr and ATSU is 8 hr). I am also waitlisted at 2 in state MD schools and am waiting for a response after interviewing at DMU. So feel free to give your thoughts on DMU in this mix as well.
My positives for atsu:
I liked the interview (it was in person) and the feel I got from the students and staff.
Founding DO school
Clinical locations all over the US (including my home state and one 45 min from my home). I want to return home for residency ideally.
Fitness center and aquatic center are very nice
low cost of housing
already paid the deposit
Negatives:
lower match and comlex numbers (compared to UNE)
rural (could result in limited experience clinically)
Positives for UNE:
Higher match and comlex numbers on average over the last 5 years
coast of maine (location is very nice)
great seafood
new campus in 2025-2026 year
Negatives:
College moving campuses after the first year
Clinical sites are limited to the northeast (no going to Michigan)
higher cost of living
some negative reports about the administration
havent been able to visit in person
