I am a current C.C. student that is planning on transferring to Illinois Institute of Technology to finish my chemistry degree. Do med schools look down on students that go to tech schools? Does anyone have any experience with the average GPA at schools like this? Could this be dangerous to my GPA (currently 3.8, upward trend) if the classes are reaaallly difficult? Thanks for any input!

Just graduated from a tech school. No medical schools look down on them, based on the interviews that I received. Work hard and do your best, as with any university, and you will be fine.

When it comes to evaluating you academically medical schools are going to mainly look at your GPA and MCAT score. Earning the highest GPA and MCAT score should take precedent over deciding which school to attend. (unless you have the option of going Ivy league, they have their own rules lol)

Thanks for the responses. Does anyone think it will be more difficult to maintain a high GPA at a tech institute as opposed to say, a liberal arts school?

I've seen many medical students who went to either MIT or CalTech.
