Attire for the Interview
Started by GT500
For a guy, is it standard to wear a suit or will a shirt and tie suffice? I do not want to overdress or underdress.
Its better to overdress in my opinion, I am busing out a suit and tie
but whatever you feel comfortable in
just no jeans and t-shirts or polos but I think that most people know that
good luck to you sir 🙂
Wearing a suit is not overdressing for an interview for a seat in a professional graduate program - especially not when one hopes to out compete a few hundred other people for that same seat. Wearing a tuxedo is overdressing.
Is it really time for this thread again? How time flies...

You do not have to shave.
I shaved for my interview at Jefferson, didn't get in. I didn't shave for my Touro interview, I got in.

IMO, I think a suit is your best bet. At the interview I attended, out of the 3 guys, two wore just a shirt, tie and slacks. The third guys wore a great fitting suit, and it really made him stand out from the other guys.
Are people actually getting invites already? I still haven't even applied yet.
Yes people who applied to (ED = Early Decision) are getting their interview invites right now. They are interviewing from end of Sept to mid Oct.
You're not alone Mike. I haven't applied neither. I'll know if I should even apply this year when I get my AUG PCAT score at the end of this month.
good luck with interviews everyone.🙂
If you wear a suit, PLEASE don't wear the standard black suit with white shirt. You're gonna look like everybody else. Plus it looks like you're going to a wedding/funeral.
That being said, I dont know what will be appropriate since that is exactly what I wore
Perhaps a blue or grey suit with pinstripes might be ok? And try to look sexy!

Yeah, I wore a gray suit with pinstripes, white shirt, silver tie.
I'd strongly advise against looking like a member of the mafia.

😀 @ your avatar. yeah don't wear something like that to the interview.
You need to dress as if your future depends on it.
For men:
Wear a conservatively cut suit.
Wear a conservative shirt
Wear nice and polished shoes
Wear a normal tie (color really doesn't matter).
Make sure you are clean shaven, and a nice haircut.
Price of the suit doesn't matter, its the details and tailoring that will make you stand out.

Agreed. You want a suit that fits you, not something that NBA players wear. Also, a silver tie clip or white handkerchief would be nice.

The handkerchief does help quite a bit when your interview is during a heatwave, and when the closest free parking spot is 6 blocks away from the school.
A shirt and a tie should suffice. Don't forget to iron! I found having a jacket was too constricting and would have affected my comfort level during the interview. It's your personal preference, but at the minimum, shirt and tie are a must.
