I received an interview invite at NYCPM. I have never interviewed for anything before in my life so I was wondering what would a proper attire be for an interview? Is putting on a tie and suit jacket going over the top?

No. A good rule of thumb is dress for whatever position you want in a company (including med school). If you want to be a doctor, dress like a doctor (i.e. suit and tie).

-Navy or dark gray suit (probably SB 2 or 3-button; could maybe go with a DB suit if you're older or very husky)
-crisp white dress shirt
-deep red or blue tie in solid color or conservative patterned
-black belt and black cap toe dress shoes

(think of the politicians you see on TV... that's your aim)
