Attitudes over Technique in Verbal Reasoning

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I'm timing myself. Somebody told me that they actually designed the verbal reasoning section so you would be short on time. We all know there are those one or two passages that are philosophical in nature. something like, "what we know about the imperfect nature of imperfect impulses transcends the modern sense of what we call malignant mores." often pops up. (like that, I just made that up, doesn't make any sense does it?) I like to think of those as my "time traps." About a paragraph down or so, if I get some of those sentences I guess on the questions and move on. If the passage sounds like it's from Scientific American or more common-sense I'll read at an accurate pace, so I don't miss those. Come back at the end to try and answer the evil ones. I hate to say it but practice makes perfect, including pacing and skipping. (never leave any unanswered. btw.)
