Sorry this isn't dental related, but any advice for places to rent/buy that are commutable to the bronx? How's the commute by public transit or car? Any info would be appreciated....manhattan, brooklyn, connecticut, white plaines, etc.

thanx for the feedback. i was actually hoping for a little more detailed info in terms of where current students/residents live, rent, safety, entertainment, etc, etc. also, if i buy instead of rent, what areas are up and coming,.

Students & residents live wherever you can find an apartment that is in your budget and meets your criteria. If your budget is $2000/month and you need to be in a doorman building, there are plenty of studios for you in Manhattan. If your budget is more like $500/month, then you need to look into having a roommate in an apartment somewhere in Queens/Brooklyn/White Plains/etc.

What train is closest to your hospital? Go to www.mta.info - locate that train on the map, and then follow the route of that train to figure out where you want to live. That is if you want to minimize your commute to one train only. If you are willing to transfer, then you can pretty much live wherever. Then it will come down to how long you want to spend commuting, because getting to the Bronx from Brooklyn can take from 25 minutes to >1 hour, depending on where you are going.

That said, if you are looking for a specific building where there is a large presence of young people, try searching for Normandy Court located on the upper east side. They don't call it "Dormandy" for nothing.
