maybe it's a little early for this, but i'm starting to prepare my application for 2008, and would like some info about letters of recommendation. this is really the only part of the reapp process that intimidates me (i hate having to rely on other people).

What are the requirements at some schools if you're not using a committee letter. I haven't been able to find much info about this. Is it generally just 2 or 3 science professors?

Did you reuse any of your letters from last year, or did you have to get a new slew of LORs? I like some of the people who wrote my letters last year, and I don't want to not include them with my app and instead include others who won't write as good a letter.

what about if you have been out of school for a while and can no longer get lor's from the committee or profs? then what?

I think you can use last years letters to reapply, however I don't know how that works with AADSAS (with the LOR matching form that needs to be signed by the professor and submitted directly to AADSAS). Perhaps that is the only form that needs to be updated.

Some schools (like the U of MN) require new LOR's when re-applying. I am sure if you talked to your old professors, they would be good about it. I was kinda in the same boat. I was also out of school for a while before applying. (However, I work as a researcher at the UofM so I was able to get 2 letters from PI's.) But I did approach an old professor. He just wanted to visit with me and read my personal statement and look at my grades, and he was totally willing to write me a letter.

Doesnt everyone have some sort of Pre-Health department at their university? For ASU this office recieves the letters and then sends them to the schools for you. They keep these letters for years, and will resend then the following year. Most schools, (Creighton, louisville, kentucky, boston, maryland too name a few) will keep your letters of recommendation from last year but you have to call and ask them too. Creighton I think wanted written notice to keep them. I would make sure that I have one new one that can show what you've been doing the past year so as to show you didnt sit on your duff all year reading SDN.

I have a reapplicant related question:

When reapplying, do you have to resend all your transcripts to AADSAS and enter every one of your classes manually into your profile? It was SO tedious!!!!

yep. you do.

I've been out of school for a few years so I got my employer to write one of my science letters. This was an issue at a few schools, but once I sent them a letter explaining my why my employer's letter would be more relevant they accepted it as a replacement.
