I'm getting conflicting advice about loading up on electives during the P1 year. Some say it's good but some say its no biggie just wait till p2 or p3. So now, I'm confused and have not enrolled in any electives and the one that sounds pretty easy is now full. 🙁 Can anyone shed some light on this issue for me?? Thanks a bunch!

I'm in the same boat. With everyone saying that your P1 year is easy, I figured that I would take some electives. Now I am registered for 18 credit hours and I am a little freaked out. 😱

But...what I really should be worried about is packing since I am moving in 2 days. Ugh.

There is only one elective offered to P1s in the fall, and that is BPS 360. The other electives are for others. So, the most you can be registered for is 17 hours. Phar 441 used to be a 4 hour course, but it got changed to a 3 hour course. Most P1s in the fall take the elective, and it is not that bad. It has a big curve. P1 year, I took 4 hours worth of electives.

A new one credit elective was added for P1s: BPS 385. Survey of Research in Pharmaceutical Sciences.

Thank you for your thoughtful and helpful input. It is truly appreciated.

I'm taking BPS 360, because I heard it was pretty easy, so I'm signed up for 17 hours. I do remember them saying there will be more opportunities for more interesting electives in 2nd and 3rd year, so I'm not going to sweat it too much. I'm really alot more worried about move-in in 2 days. It doesn't seem like there's alot of places for people to go unload, especially for SSR. Also does anyone else not have their I-card? I have to get that on Thursday before I can even move in...

I'm taking both electives also. I say if I feel, I guess within the first week or so, that I going to take too much time from my core classes, you can drop it. IMO, I think that 18 hours is very do able, if you're not working.

Take a look at the P2 and P3 elective offerings, and that might help your decision.

I'm glad you appreciate my awesomeness in general, it is a rare treat to get a reply from someone such as myself in a meagre thread such as this.

For west side move-in, you are not allowed to park in front of SSR. You will have to park on Polk St. or Wolcott. I have never had a problem with it. Also, I generally move in during the morning.

I have to go get my I card tomorrow too... after m 4 hour drive to the city, lol. I wish I would have known that we needed it to move in because I would have gotten it during orientation. Oh well. Tomorrow should prove to be an interesting day. See ya there!

We can get our i-cards at Student Center West, correct?

Yes, check on the UIC website, and it will have the exact location. You can also just look at the the building directory.

anyone have the ISBN number for the calculations book or does any alum or p234 want to sell theirs?

Your class is using a different edition than the current P2s and P3s.

I dont think it matters what edition you have for the book but if you want to wait at organization day, which is the first thursday after school starts, SNPhA is having a raffle which includes a calculations book. There's really not that much difference between the editions. if you want more info, send me a pm.
