Just curious to know the stats of those that were accepted. I interview this month and just curious to where I stand. Thanks!!!!

I got accepted on Dec 19, here are my stats:

Overall GPA 3.06, Science Im not sure of at the moment (around a 3.0)
PCAT taken 3 times, best composite was 79
Certified Pharmacy Tech for 4 years
No volunteer work (wish I had the time to do some)
Interviewed in March 2006 and waitlisted, visited with Dr. Jungnickel on how I could improve my application (do this if you don't get in, they will appreciate it)
Interviewed in September 2006 and accepted!

Best of luck to you at your interview. Stay relaxed and be yourself. Let me know how it goes if you dont mind (can PM me if you want).

~Adam

I'm applying to Auburn too, but it looks like they value pharmacy experience quite a bit. Was that a huge factor of you getting into Auburn? I'll probably have a couple of shadowing oppurtunities at most with a health-realted volunteer position at my local hospital.

dear there,
I got invited for the feb.8th for interview in Auburn.

I would like to have some ideas about the interview process and what and how did you prepare for your interview.

I am so scared since I have been rejected two times this year from two other pharmacy schools after the interview and I didnot have any idea what was the problem. when I call them for feedback they do not tell me why.

please if you know what it is to be done to get admitted and how you made it, it will be realy appreciated.

Thank you

I think it is a big factor, so if you have shadowing opportunitites you should take them. It will only make your application stronger. I also forgot to mention in my stats that I received a B.S. in Physical Science in December. I know there are people who get accepted without a degree, but I think it got me in (I was accepted 3 days after graduation). If you have the chance to complete a degree then I think it will really help.

Thanks everyone!!! My stats are just below 60 on PCAT and a 3.76 GPA. I will have a degree before matriculation though... What do you think my chances are? Julianne... Where are you from?

I won't began to speculate on chances, since I don't have a clue what criteria the adcom uses, but I will tell you where I'm from 🙂 Born in a small town near Auburn (Tallassee), but have lived several different places: Savannah,GA; Montgomery,AL; Nashville,TN; Gowan, MI; Birmingham,AL...

The hubby and I have our house for sale in Birmingham right now (I'm staying in Montgomery and commuting to class this semester, though). What about you?

I'll be applying ED this summer hopefully I'll see you guys soon.

Lolo,

What other schools did you apply to? It really sucks that they wouldn't give you any feedback about your "shortcomings" during the interview process (sounds to me like maybe the schools are lacking, not you)...

I really can't answer why Auburn chose me over the next guy becuase I have no idea what criteria they use to judge an applicant. My opinion is that the more well-rounded you are (i.e. good grades, PCAT, work/volunteer experience, prior degree, ability to communicate well, etc.) the better chance you have of being accepted.

As far as the interview itself goes: I found it to be similar to the others I've been on in the past. Everyone was friendly and tried very hard to make us feel at ease...if you've got two interviews under your belt already, this one should be no problem (third time's a charm, right??) 🙂

Anyway, good luck to you - please let us know how things turn out.

I was accepted in September, Early Decision.
My stats are:
3.45 GPA
90 PCAT
Worked 2 years as a tech
volunteer at nursing home and hospital pharmacy
I had lots of EC's and a mom who graduated from HSOP-not sure how much this helped🙂
I do not have a bachelor's degree, I am only a junior. I will be at the Auburn campus and I am sooo excited!!

Look forward to meeting you! I wish they'd send out information already - I'm chomping at the bit to start making specific plans for the fall!

sebw, when did you interview? When did you get your acceptance notification?

I heard today that HSOP has accepted 117/125 students already... I don't know how many people usually turn down their spots after being accepted, but I'm crossing my fingers for those of you who are still waiting :luck:

I was accepted back in October, ED.
My stats:
3.22 GPA (3.8 Science GPA)
80 PCAT
No previous pharmacy experience9 shadowed a couple of weeks before interview)
BS in Accountancy
To those that were accepted, when are we supposed to hear back from them about what to do between now and the start af fall smester?

I dunno, but I wish they'd hurry up already - I'm ready to start makin' plans 🙂 I think they are finishing up the last of the interviews this week and once they get those spots finalized, info should start to come our way (I noticed that they've already updated the laptop requirements on the website).

BTW, do you want me to add you to the "Roll Call" list we have going for c/o 2011? Just let me know.

Look forward to meeting ya soon!

From my daughter, who emailed a Dean last week-----

They're interviewing on two more dates: Apr 3 and Apr 10. They said they plan to send out interview invites "...around the end of March."

Please, please send good wishes my daughter's way! She's competitive on all fronts, she'll have her BS as of May 5th, scores/grades are good..... but we're out of state. It's frustrating to me as a parent because I'm waiting for responses from colleges for two kids- one graduating high school and one graduating college-- and the notifications are all due at the same time: the very vague, ambiguous, nebulous "...end of March, first part of April...."

Now I know that in the grand scheme of things, a week or two here and there won't really matter all that much...... but right now it's making me crazy!!!!! ;-)

Sure, add me to the list. Thanks

fitzgmb: Got you added to Roll Call... are you taking any pre-reqs right now or are you already done?

eelo: I didn't realize that they were still interviewing... I must be getting misinformation from students currently at AU (big surprise there!), sorry about that. I will keep you and your kids in my prayers - what a stressful time for all of you! I hope everything works out for the best 🙂

fitzgmb: Got you added to Roll Call... are you taking any pre-reqs right now or are you already done?

Thanks. Right now I am taking Immunology, Genomic Biology, and Ethics. That will complete my pre-reqs.

I also heard interviews would be finished mid Marrch and we would hear from them soon. I need to know what my financial package is going to look like so I can make plans. But, I have heard from current AU pharm students that they are notoriously slow and disorganized.

Bummer...... this is not sounding good. I hope that Dean gave her the straight scoop and didn't just tell her what he thought she'd want to hear. She just needs to be able to interview. I really think that if she can get an interview, she can get one of those last few spots (the Dean did say there were only a few seats left).

Am I biased? Oh, yeah. ;-) Is she a good prospect? You bet your beans, she is!

Wait- you guys are about to be starving graduate students. Don't bet any beans you may need to eat in a few months. ;-)

I would not put much worth into the point I made about interviews being over in mid March. I live next door to two AU pharm students and they said that was possibly the case. If the Dean said there would be interviews in April, I would have to more wieght behind that. I will keep your daughter in my prayers and hope that she gets an interview.

Immunology, Biochem, and World Lit II this semester for me, then a whole summer off WOOHOO :hardy: ...

Finanacial aid is scary business - on the one hand, I'm ready for the info to get the ball rolling - OTOH, I really don't want to know what my loans are gonna look like!

I agree, eelo - take the dean's word over ours! If your daughter doesn't hear anything from them by the end of April, let me know and I'll see what I can find out. We will be on spring break next week (YEEHAW!) but I'll check when classes resume.

Thanks, guys. I appreciate the encouragement and the prayers. It's just that she's such a good candidate..... and she's really competitive stats-wise. Auburn is her #1 choice- even if she doesn't get accepted this year, she's planning to move down there this summer to establish residency for next year. I think that if they invite her to interview, she'll tell them she'll give them the deposit right there if they want it. And she'll probably offer to cut their lawns or wash their cars..... ;-)

Keep the prayers coming. I just hope that God recognizes "and this is for eelo's daughter....."

 I'm sure He can figure it out...

FWIW, the unwritten rule of thumb seems to be get an interview=get an acceptance letter (unless you just really screw up your GPA in the meantime or act stupid while at the interview 😛 )....I think it's a good idea for her to get set up here for residency purposes if she doesn't make it in this time. If you don't mind my asking, where do ya'll live now? How old is your daughter? Has she worked in a pharmacy before? If she does decide to move down here, PM me and I'll see what I can do to help.

My daughter spoke to the good folks at AU this morning- the people who are determining the invitees for the final round of interviews are still out sick, but fill-ins are doing the best they can do catch up. After receiving an apology for taking so long, my daughter was told was "Don't give up hope!"

This is good. ;-)

(julianne, I pm'ed you. Thanks. For the record- we live in VA.)

I was accepted to HSOP in October. I have a terrible overall GPA, but a decent math and science. My saving grace was my pcat, a 94. I have worked in a pharmacy for 3 years. Just waiting on August.

Welcome to the group, ZIP920! Want me to add you to the ranks in the "Roll Call" thread we have going? And, BTW, congrats on a great PCAT score (mine was a 75 😳 )

Word on the street now is that Laurie Smith had jury duty (in addition to all of the sickness going around) which set the adcom behind in getting out those interview invites.... it's not over yet!! :luck: :luck:

Sure add me in.

So, has anyone on here gotten an interview request from Auburn for this week? Supposedly they're interviewing on Tuesday and Friday and that's it for them, with final decisions being made by 4/20.

...from Laurie Smith today. It was very brief (basically said thanks for being so patient, we've made it through graduation and can now turn our attention to you guys). Hope to see more info soon!! Just wanted to give ya'll the heads-up.

A fellow classmate of ours has just closed on a house in Opelika and is looking for someone to take over her current lease until at least January 1st (could be renewed after that with no problem). It's a 2BR/2Bath duplex (very nice with vaulted ceilings and the like), 4 miles from campus. I told her I'd put the word out for her... if you're interested, let me know and I'll give you all of her contact info. If I wasn't stuck trying to sell my house in Birmingham, I'd take it (but I can't afford to be making 2 house payments at once!) - just wanted to let ya'll know.

I got accepted back in September, Early Decision. I'm really excited!

Congrats to all of you who have made it. I am so excited I am counting the days. Are they finished with interviews yet? Well we should all get together before classes start for sure! Any of you on myspace?

Adam

Where have you been hiding, stranger?!? 😛
Yep, they're done - did you get the email they sent out last week??
I'm up for a get-together (maybe on the last day of orientation week?), what about everyone else?

Re: Myspace - I'm sending you a PM now

Hey, just kinda been hanging out and working a lot. A get-together on the last day of orientation would be great. That's 2 for our get-together, anyone else? I'm going to check your PM now Julianne...

Adam

Hopefully, the last day of orientation will be Friday - if they'd send out information already we wouldn't have to play these guessing games (can you tell I'm a little anxious, too?!?) 🙄

Or better yet, the last day of orientation will be thursday. It would be awesome to have Friday off. And yeah I know that won't happen. We should hear from them really soon though.

I'm up for it. We (some of the other people in our class) have already talked about a party after orientation ends. Have y'all looked into getting a computer yet? And have y'all joined the facebook group. Just a heads up if you didn't know it was there.
