I'm up for it. We (some of the other people in our class) have already talked about a party after orientation ends. Have y'all looked into getting a computer yet? And have y'all joined the facebook group. Just a heads up if you didn't know it was there.

Hehehehe - we'd better give advance notice if we're all planning on going out to eat or something (course, I was thinking more like a bar 😉 )

I just joined facebook today - it's gonna take some getting used to on my end! Is there a particular name of the group and is it specific to HSOP? If so, will you PM the name or url to me? Thanks!

dear Julianne,

Are you one of the students who has been accepted in Mobile campus or the main campus. Wanted to know the students who have been accepted to the main campus , I still do nto know any body yet.

Thanks

I have a question for those of you guys who participated in ED. Did you just chose the option of ED on PHarmCAS? what are the pros and cons for applying to ED? Thank you

Yes, the ED option on Pharmcas is all you need to choose in order to get the ball rolling (you'll still have to fill out the supplemental apps, etc. but only for the one school that you pick).

IMO, the biggest pros to applying ED:
1) Your application is being reviewed along with a much smaller group of people; therefore, you stand a greater chance of being accepted with "average" stats than you would if you had to compete in the regular application cycle. In other words, it's easier to stand out in a group of 200 than it is in a crowd of 2000...
2) Focusing all of your time and energy on completing one supplemental application/essay by the school's deadline is much easier than having to worry about many different ones at the same time (and probably makes for a much better PS or supplemental essay)

The biggest con:
1) You can only apply to one PharmCas school if you're doing ED. If for some reason you get waitlisted/rejected from that school, you'll have no time to waste in getting apps turned in to your 'alternate' (i.e. 2nd or 3rd choice) schools. It's kind of like 'putting all of your eggs in one basket'... it can be risky but if you are dead set on attending one school no matter what, I think it's the smart way to go.

There have been many discussions on this forum about ED: the good, the bad, and the ugly 🙂 My experience with the process was nothing but ideal but there have been others who found it to be worrisome/stressful. I would strongly suggest that you do a search and read their opinions, too...

Hope that helps and good luck to you!

Hey -

Have you joined the facebook group for our class (c/o 2011) yet? If not, I'll be glad to PM you the link so that you can get to know some folks before the first semester begins.

Also, I'd love to hear a little about you -where you'll be coming from, how old you are, etc. If you don't feel comfortable posting it here, feel free to PM me.

Here's a little about me:

*Female, "non-traditional" student (32 y/o and married with kids)
*Currently live in Birmingham but will be moving to Auburn soon (hopefully!)
*No prior degree but have worked for Walgreens (in many different capacities) since January 2000
*Attended Auburn for the first time this spring (to finish up the last of my prereqs) and I 😍 the campus... the whole college "atmosphere" has taken a little getting used to, though 😛

Anyway, look forward to hearing from you and meeting you in the fall!

wow! Thanks Julianne! I didn't know that I can only apply to one school if I am doing ED! I defenitly don't want to put my eggs in one basket!

Dear Julianne,
Thanks for replying , I am sorry I did not answer your message quickly.

I have joint the face book but I am not sure I did join through the right link, would you please send me the link where I can find the names of our class.

You so energetic and appear to be excited and that is a good spirit. I am also not young though . I have two kids ages 5 and 6. I will be moving from Texas this July. I am pretty new to Auburn Un. campus that is why it seems difficult at the beginning. My husband work overseas and I will be taking care of every thing by my self, which is kind of difficult since I am not very familiar with every thing in Auburn, plus my English is not helping me that much. I am originally from middle east.

That is brief description of my situation. Hopefully, will find good people like you which can make the studying and going through pharmacy school little easier.

Looking forward to hear from you and to meet you and other students in our class soon.

Take care

Laila,

I emailed you the link for facebook just now... let me know when you get it.

Also, just thought I'd let you know that I removed your personal email address from your above post (to be on the safe side) 🙂

I'll send you a longer, more detailed email as soon as I have time (have to get the 7-year-old in the bed now).

Thanks Julianne,

Received your Email too.
