Thank you Omar and PteFabulous.
Yes I personally feel the education would be the same between Ross and AUC. However, I think a lot of the complains people have are aimed at the school but it's also because medical school IS tough so the school takes the blame for it.
The Bahamas campus sounds good but I really don't want to move during semesters, I just don't think I personally want to deal with readjusting again. Putting aside Island life, I just want to know which of AUC or Ross has higher success in landing people in residencies. I like Ross because it's backed by Devry and surely has a bright future. But I see that roughly 70% of people rank AUC better than ROSS while other 30% say Ross is better.
PS: Omar, I will PM you my stats.
Thanks again!
Where did you find these rankings?
Listen, you are never going to get a full picture on what it's like at each school by what on the internet. Ross, AUC, SABA, SGU are all pretty much on par when it comes being good Carib schools. I don't know which semester you are aiming for but just pick a school, it really doesn't matter which one. As long as you are hard worker and have what it takes to actually become a doctor these schools will help you get there.
I think if you're having that hard a time picking a school then you should look at other criteria then "which school is better?" because you're not going to get a clear cut answer to that.
Start considering:
What kind of surroundings are important to me?
-If being around shopping and casinos is important = AUC
-If you're okay with more isolation = Ross, Saba
Plane tickets, how long will I want to be home for break?
-till the last second = AUC, saba
-I don't mind traveling a little longer = Ross
Which school will be the most stable if a hurricane hits?
-I have no idea about the other schools, But my guess is Ross and AUC would be the best prepared to help its students
How much is the cost of living?
How safe is the island?
What are the schools facilities like? ie. gym, eating facilities, student lounge...
What is the social scene like?
Are there opportunities for research?
Are there other opportunities to learn and practice new skills besides mandatory school events?
Are there programs to help struggling students?
In my opinion these are questions that are going to help you make a decision. Pick certain things that are important to you and use that to pick a school because if you focus on just the reputation, or what people say, you are going to be disappointed.
Th advice I always give for coming to one of these schools, do what it takes to be comfortable here while you study. For
example if you like studying at home, make sure you get a nice apartment, with a generator, even if its more expensive.
Alright, I'm sure you've heard more then enough from me
