Ok...I know I am getting ahead of myself here as SGU has not accepted me yet, but I was recently flirting with the AUC website. I have only applied to Ross and SGU but now, bored out of my mind decided to look at the other 2 from the BIG 4. The AUC particularly caught my attention because of their UK clinical rotations!!! I plan to practice in the UK or Ireland or Canada not really the US but you never know, anyways, getting of topic here....could someone from AUC talk to me about the school? Why did you choose AUC? Anyone's thaughts concerning this dilemma I am having will be greatly appreciated, I am sitting all day looking at the AUC Submit button 😛
Cheers!

I don't think you can practice in the UK with a Caribbean MD.
Let me know if I'm wrong.

Well I am a European citizen as well. And since AUC is on St. Maarteen on the Netherlands side and it can provide with UK clinical rotations I don't see why I wouldn't be able to apply for my residency match in the UK?

Is my train of thought wrong? Let me know your perspective tracheatoedoc!

Thanks!

AUC = smaller classes and better island

AUC = smaller classes and better island

Also more expensive island, BUT shorter 9.5 semsters. At least financially they all, almost come to the same thing when weighing in the Standard of Living(SL) factor. I`ve been to St. Maarteen before...twice...and liked it....VERY small, cute and cozy island...🙂
Ugh!!!! so hard.

I came across this on the SGU website:

http://www.sgu.edu/website/sguwebsite.nsf/about-sgu/recognition-standardssom.html

However, I would bet that it's based on an individual basis and that your Caribbean MD does not guarantee you practice privileges in the UK.

Re AUC vs. SGU, why not just apply? $75 more and then, if in fact you are accepted to both, you can make a decision.

Thanks for the site!!! I do need to think about this EU thing better, I do know some UK students are taking this route.

I will be applying to AUC, just wanna get a head start on a decision. 🙂 I know I am optimistic!

Not even close.

SGU is by far the more expensive of the two.
