Hey guys,

Im going to make this brief. I did an audition somewhere where I liked location wise. I had 3 sets of interviews, 2 of them went ok, because they knew me. Another one was so dual and bland and ended like 15 mins early, the guy didnt know me and he didnt know that I failed the PE until I told him it was my greatest difficulty in med school.

I was wondering, how long should I wait to send them the letter of interest as I just interviewed there last week? I think I shot myself in the foot because it seemed like they only had my scores for the written exam scores (which were passing on first attempt), but the PE fail was what I volunteered.

SHould I do it now, or like in January when ranking takes place. The program is very geographically favorable for me. I don't mind the community feel either since I would like to be more active in community psych so its added bonus.

thanks in advance!

what is a letter of interest? it is customary (but not necessary) to send thank you cards/letters/emails immediately after interviewing or within the week to interviewers. if you leave it too long they wont remember who you are! once you have made your rank list you can let the PD at your first choice know they are you #1. Some places this does make a difference, for others it doesn't make any difference. You have nothing to lose. Just don't lie or change your mind after you send the email!

thanks! I sent in a thank you email tot he coordinators where i interviewed at. But not all the residents and faculty members, is this something I should do individually?
I didnt want to go over the top and email everyone and sound too desperate. i thought i would just convey my message to the PC.

I did not send thank yous to everyone only the program directors at places I liked and anyone who I was following up with following a conversation we had that was interesting. from my experience interviewing as a resident about 1/4-1/3 of applicants send thank yous to me and it's 50:50 with emails vs cards. but this is just my n of 1. it certainly is not necessary to send thank yous. and it certainly won't help all that much sending thank yous to everyone. how it is much appreciated and a courtesy. faculty and residents put in a lot of time into doing so. I have to cancel my clinics to interview applicants. so it is a gesture of appreciation that people are taking their time out of their day to talk with you and to review your application and fill in evaluations of you etc.

I know I appreciate the gesture. I hope it wont sound pathetic doing it 2 weeks later lol
