I apologize for starting a new thread, but I was unable to get my question answered in the Clinical Rotations forum.

One of the programs I applied to for a 4th year audition rotation is requesting a letter of introduction/interest in the program (separate from a letter written by my school stating I will be a 4th year student in good standing). Can previous students or those "in the know" expound upon what exactly they're looking for here.

I was assuming it's no more than a paragraph that shows why you're interested in EM, that program in particular, and maybe a few miscellaneous details about myself. Any ideas out there?

Thanks!

I think that's pretty much all it is. I had to write one as well, and mine was basically two paragraphs talking about my background in medicine/EM and why i'm especially interested in their program and rotation. It's not a big deal, I'm pretty sure they just file it away with everything else. Good luck!

Thanks so much for the help. I even went ahead and emailed the visiting student coordinator, since I couldn't find any information regarding the letter on their website. Happy I did, because apparently it's a brand new thing they started this year and it's not even mentioned on the website yet. He went ahead and sent me an official release clarifying what they're looking for. At this point, they're just asking for my goals objectives in the rotation, why their program, what dates I'm available, and my step 1 score.
