I already have three IM Audition Rotations scheduled. I'm interested in hospitalist work, but I've never spent dedicated time with a hospitalist to see what it is really like. I have 4 weeks in August when I can schedule another audition rotation or do a hospitalist rotation. What do you all think would be best for me? I can always do a hospitalist rotation later during 4th year when audition rotations are over.

Not in IM, so grain of salt here, but if you're definitely set on IM, then do it later.

First priority is securing a residency; so auditions outweigh downstream career exposure. Get the residency first, then blow some time during the FYBIGMI period investigating long term career options.

Now, if you only want IM because you want to be a hospitalist, then do it early and see if you *really* like the job. That way, if you hate it, there's time to realign your career path.

Savvy?
