I am a third year who is very interested in both EM and Surg. I am also a DO student and will most likely be applying to DO residencies. The question I have is this: When should I do my audition rotations over fourth year? I can do 2 rotations each of surg and EM before my electives run out. Should I do them EM EM SURG SURG or EM surg EM surg? And should I do them in July AUG SEPT OCT or are there better times? I do understand that with DO programs one could be offered a position on the spot at these audtion rotations, any truth to this?

thanks

The DO match is or atleast was different from the MD ERAS. Not sure how it will change if some programs are using ERAS. I know lots of students who were offered spots during their audition rotation. Unfortunately, some students got "screwed" ebcasue they believed that they had a guaranteed spot, and were sorely disappointed match day when the program they thought they were secured in didn't match them.

I suggest doing your rotations in July - November.
