Applying for a number of away rotations and have a few spots I want to audition over other spots. What exactly is the etiquette for audition scheduling? I am a DO student have already filled out a few applications to rotate some DO programs, however, I am strongly considering some MD programs and want to apply to rotate at their programs and would prefer to do my auditions at the MD programs. Is it okay to decline a audition rotation after you already have the spot for an audition at different program (of course I would not tell them this)? I'm talking about turning down the spot at least 6weeks in advance... thanks!

I think most Allopathic programs use VSAS for scheduling aways. I don't believe DOs are able to use this system, so you will need to apply outside of VSAS.

As for scheduling a rotation at one institution and later withdrawing for another institution, you should have no problem doing so. Programs understand that schedules change. Just be sure to give adequate notice (6 weeks may not be enough).

Agree. It's not a big deal to cancel with adequate notice - at least 6 weeks.
