Is taking the mcat mid august too late to apply for this cycle. I have an average GPA and above average EC. Would it be too late to take a mid August date or should I stick to my early July date (which would give me a 1.5 months to study for this exam).

I’d just wait. You’d be applying too late at that point. Take a gap year, study harder, workout, eat right, etc.

No point in wasting your money applying to med schools in September

Not gonna lie, august is pretty late -- you wouldnt get your score until september, and by then most people have already completed their secondaries. Having only 1.5 months to study for the MCAT is not impossible, but you would be limiting yourself. Consider taking another year to give yourself more breathing room with studying. Could be a blessing in disguise, I loved my gap years.

I would be taking 3 gap years then. I’m thinking of trying my best for my July date and seeing how this cycle goes. I plan on studying full time 8 hours for 1.5 months. I’m starting at a 490 and my goal is a 505. Do you think it’s doable?
