well folks.. august is here.. which means, that those interview letters and the remaining supplementals should start popping up in the mail sometime soon... do any current dental students or those who are about to start have any idea of which schools sent out interview letters in august.. all help is appreciated......... 😎

Is anyone elese having a hard time turning over those long 2ndaries? Especially for the UCs, and also Arizona- TWO 500 word essays.

Took me about 3 hours to complete Arizona's secondary, and about the same amount of time to finish UNC's.

UCLA is nothing compared to UCSF!!! Ten 'short answer' questions... but I guess it's good prep for interviews. But to answer you question, I have heard nothing from UCLA and the check has yet to clear as well. Apparently they are slower to get things going. I sent everything in about three weeks ago.

I've also heard that UCLA starts their cycle slowly.

Baylor and San Antonio sent their interview letters out in early August. Apparently UT Houston sends theirs out randomly, because I didn't get mine until about a week before it in October, but don't freak out if this happens to you, I still got in first round. The other odd thing was that my letter of acceptance from UTH came about 3 or 4 days later than the other two which arrived on the same day. And CALL THEM if you don't hear from them for a while. My buddy called them because he had received letters of interview from UTSA and Baylor but none from UTH. UTH had screwed up something with his app and wasn't going to submit it to the commitee. Luckily he called them on it and they put it in. It turned out it was the only school that he got a first round letter from. He got pulled from the waitlist and is now going with me to Baylor, but if he didn't get in there, and hadn't called UTH, he wouldn't be in school right now.

Marqutte requires a one page essay 🙁 It along with Arizona'a have been the longest I've recieved so far.

I kept my Arizona essays short but sweet, under 300 words actually. Since it said "500 words max," I took that as an encouragement to not be too verbose. 🙂

I'm STILL working on the UCSF secondary. I know that getting it in ASAP is good, I'll do it before this weekend.

UCSF makes the UCLA secondary look like cake. I submitted my UCLA secondary last week, and obviously haven't heard back yet (although I am in LA, so mail is really fast). I'll let you guys know when I hear back from them.

Like the original poster, does anyone know which schools start to send interview invites in August? Plus, can schools tell you that you've been rejected before the Dec. 1st deadline? How do we find out that we've reached the end of the line?

i agree with cool here in finding out about which schools start sending out interview invites in august.. hmmmmmm......so far i heard case, nova, and some texas schools have started sending letters out.. anyone else have any idea on some school names...

as for rejection cool fillings... i think that they can tell u before dec...well so i've heard anyways...

Last year I got 2nds and interview invites during the summer from Case, Louisville, Maryland, VCU, , Indiana, UNLV, AZ,. UW (where I am going) came later in the fallfor the secondary and the interview came in Jan.. Hope this helps.

what i wanna know is, that since nova is sending out interview invites these days... do they wait for the DAT scores or are they sending the invites before they get them... 😕
