Does anybody know if any of the Australian dental schools are reconized in Canada. If not how hard is it to come back to Canada after you finish your degree in Australia. Thanks.

At the moment.. no, not officially. However, If you want to attend dental school outside of the US or Canada... then attending a program in Australia or New Zealand is your best bet as all of these programs are highly respected in the US and Canada.

The Vice Chair of CODA (the org that accredits all US and Canadian dental schools) himself, Dr. James R. Cole II, DDS was quoted as saying.. "I don't foresee any significant movement of international dentists, except in Australia and New Zealand, who have programs much like those in the United States. CODA could conceivably develop reciprocal agreements in those countries." 👍 So that should tell you something.

I know that Sydney, Melbourne, and Adelaide dental schools are currently looking at applying to have their programs accredited in the US and Canada.

Sydney University I think will probably be the first in Australia to obtain US/Canadian accreditation. I believe they are having their first accreditation site visit next July, with the aim to obtain accrediation by 2010-11.

Hope this helps! msg me if you have any more questions
