(UCSD) I definitely start mine with, "I was born in..."
Ugh.

In revising my crappy draft, I'm planning on hopefully pulling out a theme or two for the whole essay, but I don't know whether to stick with a chronological description of events. Suggestions??

Yeah, I did too. You ask a dull question, you get an answer with a dull beginning. If I submit another secondary with an essay, though, I'm going to modify this so that it's a more engaging read.
